Acer Iconia Tab A501 Tablet Comes To Canada, Brings Support For Rogers HSPA+ Connectivity

Acer Iconia Tab A501 Tablet Brings A 10.1" Display, Android Honeycomb & A Rogers Wireless On-Contract Price Of $199.99

It looks like Acer has officially launched the Iconia Tab A501 tablet in Canada. The tablet is available as of today and can be found exclusively with three retailers, none of which include direct with the carrier — Rogers Wireless.

That being said, Acer has offered up some official details in terms of the Iconia Tab A501 tablet and those interested will be able to make a purchase with WirelessWave, Tbooth Wireless and Wireless Etc. In terms of the pricing, the tablet will set you back $199.99 on a Rogers Wireless three-year agreement.

“Staying in touch, informed, productive and entertained has never been so easy,” said Sumit Agnihotry, vice president of product marketing for Acer America Corp. “Whether it’s posting a birth announcement on Facebook(TM) or staying connected to the office via email, people are connecting more online and in a more personal way. The Acer Iconia Tab A501 with Rogers 4G HSPA+ connectivity provides our customers with a fast and fluid way to stay on the cutting-edge of technology and at the centre of what’s happening in the world today. The Iconia Tab A501 is not only intuitive, but it’s fashionable, which is important to consumers.”

And while we are not entirely sure we would describe the tablet as being fashionable, we can offer a look at the specs, which seem to be rather nice for a tablet with a just-below-$200 price point. The features begin with Android Honeycomb, a 10.1 inch (1280 x 800) capacitive touchscreen display and a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with an integrated GeForce GPU.

In addition, the Iconia Tab A501 tablet will measure in at 10.2 x 7.0 x 0.5 inches and also include other goodies such as 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and two 3260 mAh batteries which should “provide up to eight hours of playback for casual games, eight hours of HD video playback or 10 hours of WiFi Internet browsing.”

And lastly, the tablet will have a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and several pre-installed apps to include Google Books and Zinio.
