Zynga Launches CastleVille
Social gamers rejoice. Zynga has just launched a new game that involves a mix of medieval fantasy, social connection and a bit of storytelling with CastleVille. This is Zynga’s latest foray into social gaming, and is said to be the most graphic-rich and most social among Zynga’s offerings.

This new game is Zynga’s latest addition to the “Ville” franchise of social games — along with CityVille, FarmVille and FrontierVille — CastleVille delves into the medieval realm and lets users build castles, raise empires, trade crafts and sell armor and weapons. Because you will need to defend your kingdom, building relationships and alliances is a must. And as such, CastleVille also comes with a bit of storyline involved.
CastleVille is an effort developed by Zynga Dallas, which was built as part of Zynga’s acquisition of Bonfire Studios. Bill Jackson, Zynga Dallas director, says that CastleVille combines different aspects of previous “Ville” games, such as self-expression from FarmVille, the ability to build fantasy cities from CityVille, and narrative features from FrontierVille.
CastleVille also has the most expansive character set, with dozens of looks and types, such as peasants, princes and princesses, pirates, and the like. The game is likewise the most graphics-rich game by Zynga to date. As for the social aspect, players ca visit friends’ kingdoms and give gifts of art, armor, potions, and the like. The game also has a reputation system that gives points based on how social you are, which can help influence your progress in the game.
CastleVille is available for free for the next few weeks after launch, and is available in 17 languages.
