Steam Weekend Deal: Tropico Franchise, Sanctum Discounted

Have you ever looked at the career of Fidel Castro and said to yourself “I can do better than that!” If you have, then you’re in luck, because as part of this weekend’s deal on Steam, the entire Tropico franchise has been discounted by a hefty amount – yes, even the recently released Tropico 4.

For those of you not in the know, Tropico is a game all about being the dictator of a tropical island. You’ll be in charge of everything: housing, entertainment, tourism, exports, and even pleasing those pesky environmentalists. Different factions will vie for your attention, and ignoring the wishes of one too long can lead to a violent response.

The Tropico franchise is a great series of games, and if you like city building games or strategy titles, then you owe it to yourself to check it out. If Tropico sounds like it’s right up your alley, then head over to Steam, where Tropico Reloaded, Tropico 3, and Tropico 3 Gold Edition are 66% off. Tropico Reloaded bundles the first two Tropico games in one package, and with the 66% discount off the sticker price, it can be had for a cool $2.37.

If you prefer more recent games, then Tropico 3 is the title for you. Both Tropico 3 and its expansion, Absolute Power, are only $3.39 each thanks to the 66% discount, whereas the Tropico 3 Gold Edition (which bundles Tropico 3 and Absolute Power together) is only $5.07. Finally, if you want to go all out and get Tropico 4, it’s been discounted by 33%, and will only cost $26.79 for the weekend.

If island dictatorship isn’t quite your thing, indie FPS/tower defense title Sanctum has also been discounted in the weekend deal. For this weekend only, you can play Sanctum for free, and if you decide that you like it, its price has been slashed by 50%, bringing the cost down to only $4.99. I picked up Sanctum in one of Steam’s sales a little while ago, and I have to say that tower defense addicts will find hours and hours of entertainment with Sanctum.
