Sparrow For iPhone Expected To Arrive Within A "Few Months"

Gmail iOS App Launch Failure Brings Some Of The Spotlight Over To Sparrow, Finishing Touches Are Being Done & App Testing Is Almost Ready To Commence

One thing seems to be fairly clear, iOS users want a better Gmail experience on the iPhone. And well, given Google was launching an app, many had thought that better experience had arrived. But that being said, many already know that story, Google released Gmail for iOS and then pulled it a short while later.

Bottom line, it seems like Google really messed that one up rather nicely. But on the flip side, it did bring another upcoming app back into the spotlight. The other app is called Sparrow for iPhone, of which some TFTS readers may already be familiar with Sparrow for Mac.

Anyway, we did know that a version of Sparrow was being built for iOS, however the details have always been rather sparse. And well, to be honest, those details are still rather sparse. What we can tell you is that the Sparrow team is actively working on the iPhone app and that the “final touches” are currently being worked on. More important, testing is expected to begin as early as next week and a release is expected in a “few months.”

Otherwise, Dominique Leca from the Sparrow team had this to say about the upcoming app;

“We want our user to spend less time on mail. Our goal is to provide an efficient and playful experience,” Leca told us. “But we need to see if the UI we’ve come up with makes as much sense on the iPhone as we thought when we designed it. Our focus is efficiency.”

And lastly, other feature of the Sparrow for iPhone app include profile images and support for multiple accounts. With that, the one question that we have will come in regards to pricing, the Sparrow for Mac app will set you back $9.99. And honestly, we would be willing to pay that for an iOS/iPhone version as well, however we suspect it will debut a bit less than that.
