Google Releases Android Platform Version Statistics For October 2011
It is the beginning of a month and that means Google has released the latest in terms of Android OS usage stats. And well, while we sort of look forward to this time every month, this latest look is showing numbers that are almost expected.

In short, there has not been all that much change aside from a jump in Gingerbread and a decrease in Froyo. Basically, this latest update makes it look like things are simply chugging along. Of course, within the next few months things should kick back up a bit once Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich begins to show up.

Anyway, the latest numbers break down as follows;
- Android 1.5 – 0.9 percent
- Android 1.6 – 1.4 percent
- Android 2.1 – 10.7 percent
- Android 2.2 – 40.7 percent
- Android 2.3 to 2.3.2 – 0.5 percent
- Android 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 – 43.9 percent
- Android 3.0 – 0.1 percent
- Android 3.1 – 0.9 percent
- Android 3.2 – 0.9 percent
And looking back towards the previous month, here are the numbers that were posted in the beginning of October 2011.
- Android 1.5 – 1.1 percent
- Android 1.6 – 1.4 percent
- Android 2.1 – 11.7 percent
- Android 2.2 – 45.3 percent
- Android 2.3 to 2.3.2 – 0.5 percent
- Android 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 – 38.2 percent
- Android 3.0 – 0.2 percent
- Android 3.1 – 0.9 percent
- Android 3.2 – 0.7 percent
Bottom line here, Android 1.5 dropped ever so slightly and Android 1.6 managed to stay the same. On a side note, it would be nice to see both of these now outdated versions finally drop down to below 1 percent.
Otherwise, Android 2.1 Eclair dropped by 1 percent going from 11.7 down to 10.7 and Android 2.2 Froyo saw the biggest drop of the bunch going from 45.3 percent down to 40.7 percent. As for Gingerbread, Android 2.3 to 2.3.2 stayed the same with a half percent and Android 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 saw a nice jump from 38.2 up to 43.9 percent. But again, nothing unexpected on those fronts.
And lastly, Honeycomb, the stagnant version of Android. This time we saw Android 3.0 drop from 0.2 down to 0.1, Android 3.1 stay the same at 0.9 and Android 3.2 increase ever so slightly from 0.7 up to 0.9 percent.
In the end, it is kind of sad that Android 1.5 and 1.6 have a combined 2.3 percent and Honeycomb has only 1.9 percent.
