Droid RAZR Root Obtained Ahead of Launch
The Motorola Droid RAZR is one of the hot Android handsets that will hit Verizon stores in the near future. The new Android 4G LTE device will be launched on November 11 and it will cost $299.99, although it will have to fight a fierce battle for attention against other equally interesting devices coming to Big Red in the following days, the HTC Rezound and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, not to mention the already selling iPhone 4S.

Today we hear that with a week to go until official launch the phone has been already rooted with the 1-click root tool that has been used on various other Motorola Android devices including the Droid Bionic.
Rooting any Android device is legal, but it may be frowned upon by manufacturers and carriers. That doesn’t mean we encourage you to put the device through such procedures and we’ll remind you that you’ll be the only person responsible for whatever happens in the process.
But we’re certainly not surprised to see the RAZR get rooted as that’s what usually happens with most Android handsets, albeit usually the get released before the rooting begins. Similarly, the Galaxy Nexus was also rooted well ahead of launch, so if that’s a “feature” you absolutely need in an Android handset then you’ll be happy to hear that both the RAZR and the Nexus support it.

What some of you may still find annoying is the bootloader status for the Droid RAZR. While Motorola will ship international units with an unlocked bootloader, the ones that will be sold by Verizon will have it locked. The carrier probably wants to prevent user to install custom Android versions on the handset, a process which involves getting rid of all the unnecessary carrier bloatware it may come preloaded with.
Do you care much about rooting your Android devices or are you happy with their default setups?
