Square Card Case App Lets You Pay Through Your iPhone Without Having To Do Much
Square has been making it easier to make and receive payments for consumers and business owners respectively. Now, it’s even easier to make payments with Square — so easy you don’t have to do anything much except to walk in an establishment, grab your goodies, and tell the cashier your name.

If you have an iPhone with iOS 5, version 1.1 of the Square Card Case App introduces a payment system that enables you to pay merchants by just showing up in the store, and letting them know you’re buying something. The geo-fencing capability of iOS 5 shows your presence within 100 meters of a particular store on a merchant’s Square account. Of course, you have to have your own Square app enabled. If you do, the merchants see your face on their Square register.
I imagine you might have to show your ID sometimes, but in all, it’s a very convenient feature. The bad news is that only 20,000 Square Card Case merchants exist, so I imagine you can only use the feature every now and then. Do you like Square’s instant payment feature or do you think there’s a security flaw in the scheme somewhere?
