Siri, Driving Force Behind the Stellar iPhone 4S Sales, Analyst Claims

Siri. Apple’s voice assistant (an improved version of the original app) has captured the hearts of many from the get-go. If you like the iPhone 4S, chances are that you like Siri. The phone’s improved camera and other new features can only do so much to ignite people’s interest. It’s Siri that’s the superstar among the features of iPhone 4S, Siri that gets websites to its name because it says the darndest things. And unsurprisingly, it’s also Siri that caused the phenomenal sales of the iPhone 4S, at least one analyst claims.

Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu says he checked in with industry contacts and sources, and found out that the iPhone 4S is an outstanding performer even within Apple’s portfolio of devices. And according to him, people are choosing to pay $100 more for the iPhone 4S when they could get the iPhone 4 for $99 because of one factor — Siri.

Wu states,

Despite global macroeconomic headwinds, Apple continues to defy conventional wisdom with a higher-end product mix. Talking to industry sources, what’s driving the 4S is better than expected reception of its new Siri software.
