Apple Files Complaint Against Porn Websites That Use The iPhone Name
Apple is well-known for protecting its assets especially its intellectual property rights. So I wasn’t too surprised to hear that the company has recently filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Forum against a handful of porn sites that use iPhone for their domain names.

Apple’s complaint encompasses seven sites in all, including one with iPhone 4S on its domain name, registered back in 2008. I’m pretty sure Apple plans its devices in advance, so why the domain name for iPhone 4S wasn’t registered back in ’08 is a bit confusing. Was it a lapse of judgement on Apple’s part, or is the newest iPhone not meant to be named that way originally? It’s especially troubling seeing as people are inclined to just time “.com” after the name of a particular brand or product.
Apple has turned to WIPO to claim iPods.com, too. But just last year, the company’s spent $4.5 million to purchase iCloud.com instead of filing a dispute.
