Aperion Intimus Speakers Bring Potent Sound To Home Theaters

Aperion's Intimus Line Of Speakers Offer Huge Sound At Not So Huge Prices

Up in the Northern Hemisphere, you’re already likely starting to feel the bite of wintry cold come down on you as autumn starts to enter its waning days and careen rapidly toward winter. And if you’ve been spending a lot of your weekends inside around the new hearth that is the home theater, you may be noticing that your hardware is looking just a bit, well, insufficient. And if you want to put some big new audio in your home theater without putting a big new hole in your wallet, then you may want to check out the new Intimus line of speakers from Aperion, which we found out about thanks to a tip from the folks at the Max Borges Agency.

The Intimus line has taken a pretty substantial upgrade in terms of what all they offer, now offering up a variety of different configurations (like those pictured above, as well as a full-on tower speaker), and offers up some seriously impressive specs. For instance, the Aperion Intimus Tower offers up a pair of four inch mid-woofers, a one inch silk dome tweeter, an anti-resonant cabinet (you want the room to shake, not your speakers) and a simulated wood finish that looks pretty sharp indeed as pictured below.

Special note: if you haven’t yet made the upgrade to an LCD, LED, or plasma television on your home theater, you’ll want to stay away from these as they’ve taken out the magnetic shielding that prevents distortion of the picture on a CRT screen.

For what it’s worth, the folks at Aperion figure you can make a complete home theater sound system out of their products for right around $900, using two tower speakers at $275 each, two satellite speakers at $110 each, a center channel speaker at $130, and then lastly a subwoofer, though the Intimus line doesn’t actually offer subwoofers, so they suggest a Bravus 8A for that, but that will add an extra $300 to the price.

So what do you guys think? Anyone looking for some new home theater sound that isn’t going to be too terrible (this is higher end gear, after all), especially if you add on a little at a time? Or do you have something better in mind for your speakers? Either way, we want to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
