LG Optimus 2X To Get Ice Cream Sandwich After All

LG "Flatly Denies" Earlier Word That The Optimus 2X Wouldn't Land The Latest Android Version After All

What a difference four days makes, huh? Following news that the LG Optimus 2X wasn’t going to land the Ice Cream Sandwich update to Android any time soon, LG came out and put a little dose of update on its Facebook page. And this particular post is going to make those Android users out there craving a little ice cream goodness feel very happy indeed.

Basically, we’d heard only four days ago, via our own J. Angelo Racoma, that the LG Optimus 2X was not actually going to get Ice Cream Sandwich added on, which would pretty much hobble the device given that it had more than sufficient hardware power to see it through most any difficulty. But without the software upgrade, a device that should have had power enough to last for years of changes in the mobile phone arena would have its lifespan effectively cut.

And based on the comments we saw right here, plenty of people were not at all happy about this news. But now, in a clear sea change, LG is out in full force, denying any suggestion that says the LG Optimus 2X would not actually end up with Ice Cream Sandwich after all. From LG:

LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.

Sounds like a pretty aggressive denial to me!  Though that does beg one important question, especially from you who commented on the previous story: does this change your mind about LG, or about the LG Optimus 2X? How do you think this will impact the news of the LG Optimus U1? Lots of room for discussion here, and we welcome it down in the comments section below!
