Resident Evil: Revelations Will Set You Back $50

Capcom Says Resident Evil: Revelations Will Be $50 Because It Requires A 4GB 3DS Cartridge

Yesterday, we got a bit of good news about Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations: you’ll be able to delete old saves! Considering the first 3DS Resident Evil game wouldn’t let you do this, I’d say that’s a nice improvement. Of course, you can’t have the good without the bad, which Capcom revealed today.

Today, Capcom announced that Resident Evil: Revelations will cost $50 when it launches in January, ten dollars more than your normal 3DS cart. Apparently, Resident Evil: Revelations will cost an extra $10 because it’s so big that it requires a 4GB cart, thus driving the cost up for the consumer. At least, that’s according to the Capcom rep that spoke to Kotaku:

Resident Evil Revelations is an all new Resident Evil title with over 20 hours of gameplay, and cutscenes beautifully rendered in fear-inducing 3D. A true console experience on a handheld device, Resident Evil Revelations is an epic title that offers both a single-player campaign for that classic survival horror gaming experience, and an additional RAID mode that can be played cooperatively or single player. To handle all of that data Resident Evil Revelations requires a 4GB cartridge, resulting in a higher price point.

Will it be worth the $50 though? If it’s truly an epic game like Capcom’s representative say it is, then I doubt many people will mind paying a premium. If Resident Evil: Revelations isn’t met with sparkling reviews, however, I doubt many 3DS owners are going to want to shell out the full $50 for it.

What do you say? Are you picking up Resident Evil: Revelations regardless of its price tag, or will be waiting until the price drops? Leave us a comment telling us what you think below, and keep it tuned here to TFTS for more news regarding Resident Evil: Revelations!

I will wait. $50 is a lot for a portable game. The Legend of Zelda had 30+ hours, and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor has 40+ maybe they should be 50 dollars too.

    2. Shawn says:

Developing full 3D worlds with high polygon counts and shaders is not cheap as it take a LOT of programing expertise. If you want a 30 dollar game than you can expect PS2 qaulity 2.5D graphics like Silint Hill:book of memories on PSPVita which is a good example despite that handheld being even more powerdul than 3DS. This also also the second game after Metal Gear 3DS to use a 4GB DVD-sized card.

    3. Paco says:

I was surprised about the 50 dollar price. The only thing I could think is that this game better be made out gold, but after hearing about the what made it cost the 50 dollars I kind agree on it.
I will gladly buy the game at the $50.00
As long it’s long and had a great multiplayer it will be worth it (Plus I need a game for the 3DS)
