LG Optimus Chic Smartphone Now Available With Virgin Mobile Canada
LG originally announced the Optimus Chic along with the Optimus One back on mid-September and since then we have seen the Chic come available with Canadian mobile carrier Bell. And well, as of today it looks like the Optimus Chic is also available with another Canadian carrier — Virgin Mobile.

That being said, the nice part about the Virgin Mobile release, there is the option to go pre-paid or with a three-year agreement. And unlike many pre-paid smartphone offerings, the handset seems to be affordably priced, though that shows in the specs. Anyway, before we dive into the specs, lets discuss the pricing.
Virgin Mobile has the LG Optimus Chic priced pre-paid at $149.99. In terms of the three-year pricing, that is $0.00, which happens to be the same price as with Bell. In other words, those in Canada who want a free Android smartphone now have a nice handset to consider and can choose between which carrier has the best coverage in the area where they work and play.
With that out of the way, lets get into those specs. The LG Optimus Chic features a 3.2 inch (320 x 480) HVGA touchscreen display, 600MHz processor, 150MB internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1250 mAh battery, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, geo-tagging and video recording. In addition, the Chic will ship with a 2GB microSD card included in the box and will arrive running Android 2.2 Froyo with access to the Android Market. And sadly, nothing in terms of when or if the handset will ever get an upgrade to Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich.
Bottom line on this one, if you are more concerned about the price and can live with Android 2.2 Froyo, the Optimus Chic may be a handset worth checking out. And while Gingerbread would have been nicer to see, we suspect that many buyers will never notice the difference.
