Nokia Outs First Ad for Lumia Phones [Experience "The Amazing Everyday" with The New Nokia Lumia Phones]

The Nokia Lumia phones were launched during Nokia World 2011, with Elop calling the Lumia 800 the “first real Windows Phone.” Design-wise, the devices aren’t anything new — the 800, in particular, looks like the brand’s ill-fated (and sole) MeeGo phone, the N9. The 710, on the other hand, looks like one of Nokia’s older Symbian devices.

But it’s what’s inside that matters, and the 800, in that respect, definitely isn’t looking lousy with its 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 14 GHz processor, 3.7-inch Curved Clear Black display, Nokia turn by turn navigation, Nokia Music/Mix Radio, and ESPN Sports hub among other features. Now, the first ad for the devices have popped up, focusing on the how everyday can be amazing, which means Nokia wants these devices to be part of everyday life.

The ad is very optimistic and bright, but here’s the thing: when ordinary non-tech people have $600-ish (the Lumia’s price) in their hands and they go to their provider for a new phone, they won’t buy a phone because the advertisement looks happy. They’ll buy a phone based on what they’ve been hearing about it as they’ll want the most out of their money. So while the Nokia Lumia phones look good thus far, we’ll have to wait a bit and see how the world’s smartphone-toting population respond to them.
