iPhone 4S Sold Out Status Coming Soon? [Report Suggests iPhone 4S Demand Is Higher Than Supply; Some Best Buy Stores Are Out of New iPhones]

The iPhone 4S, which sold over 4 million units in its launch weekend, is continuing to be very popular with the crowds. While Apple produced enough units to avoid running out of smartphones during the launch period, it looks like iPhone 4S demand is slowly outpacing supply.

Apple launched the new iPhone just in time for the holiday shopping season and it seems that more and more people are purchasing the device. A research note from Robert W. Baird & Co. analyst William Power says that plenty of Best Buy stores are running out of iPhone 4S units, which is a sign for iPhone sales across U.S. retailers.

Apparently Best Buy is currently taking reservations for iPhone 4S units as the stores await new shipments. Power wrote:

“[The iPhone 4S] is sold out at the vast majority of stores that we checked with, with many stores notifying customers of device shortages in their automatic greetings.”

Apple can’t build “these things” fast enough, according to one Best Buy representative, which sounds familiar considering that we’ve heard similar lines when it came to other popular Apple products.

Apple’s website displays shipping estimates of 1-2 weeks for any iPhone 4S model you’d choose, so in case you want to get this device by Christmas you should definitely reserve your well ahead. On the same site, the company is still encouraging customers to make reservations in case they want to purchase the iPhone 4S in an Apple retail store, although there are no reports at this time to suggests that Apple’s own stores have run out of iPhones.

The company started selling the iPhone 4S in 22 additional markets last Friday, and more countries will get it in the near future, so I wouldn’t be surprise to see a continued surge in iPhone 4S demand by Christmas. Have you purchased your iPhone 4S yet?
