Don’t Worry, Resident Evil: Revelations Will Let You Delete Saves [Capcom Says That You Can Delete Saves In Resident Evil: Revelations]

Earlier this year, Capcom found itself at the center of a massive controversy surrounding Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Capcom had implemented a save system that didn’t allow you to delete old game saves, and this hit a sore point with many gamers and bloggers out there.

Even though Capcom said that this ridiculous save system wasn’t implemented in an effort to curb used games sales, it quite obviously was. At the end of it all – with gamers pissed at Capcom once again – Capcom’s Christian Svensson said that the company probably wouldn’t use such a restrictive feature in future games.

As it turns out, Svensson wasn’t lying, because Capcom announced today that its upcoming 3DS game, Resident Evil: Revelations, will allow for deleted saves. I’m sure that there are many out there who will feel better with their purchase now that they know that they can delete their old save files – after all, who wants to purchase a game that has absolutely zero resale value when you’re not even sure that you’ll enjoy the game in question?

As for this stupid save system, I’m glad it’s gone, and I hope it doesn’t come back. Sadly, I expect that some other publishers will choose to implement a similar system in one of their 3DS games in the future. Make no mistake, publishers around the world are more than ready to wage war on the used games market, and I suspect that they’ll do anything to curb used sales of their games, even if that means they have to piss off a few gamers along the way.

Then again, I could be completely wrong. Maybe we won’t see any other publishers trying to use this kind of save system. Only time will tell, but in the meantime, head down to the comments section and tell us what you think – have we seen to last of this restrictive save system, or do you think some publishers will use it in future 3DS titles?
