$149 32GB HP TouchPad Tablet Deal Detailed Officially by Best Buy [As Expected 32GB HP TouchPad Purchases from Best Buy Cost More Than $149, HP Computer Purchase Is Mandatory]

Those of you interested in buying a HP TouchPad tablet probably already know that there is no more stock left or at least there’s no $99 16GB webOS tablet version available anymore. Luckily for you, at least at first glance, Best Buy is going to start selling the 32GB TouchPad for just $149 tomorrow, which is still a great price for a high-end tablet.

But just like we told you a few days ago, Best Buy deal comes with an annoying catch. In order to be able to purchase the cheap tablet you will need to fork extra cash for a new HP computer. Best Buy made it all official today in a brief press release, of which just the first paragraph is worth noting:

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 28, 2011 – Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) today announced that beginning Tuesday, Nov. 1 customers can get the HP TouchPad for the low, low price of $149 with the purchase of an HP or Compaq laptop, desktop or all-in-one computer.1 Customers can take advantage of this deal online at BestBuy.com® and at all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile® standalone stores nationwide.

At the end of the press release Best Buy further explains:

1. HP TouchPad available for individual purchase, outside of the bundle offer, for $599.99.

It would seem that HP is ready to sell you the device for its regular price, and I do mean the full price of a 32GB tablet, before the company decided to dump the existing stock for nickels and dimes. Instead of paying full price for the TouchPad, you’d probably be better off getting yourself a brand new HP or Compaq computer and paying the extra $149 for the tablet.

These tablets DO NOT cost as much as HP has claimed it pays to make the device IF companies can purchase them from HP for $101.30 (that is the cost for Sam’s Club). So, as with any retail item there will always be decent margins so don’t let the marketing geniuses sell you “swamp land” in FL for the price of land in Southern California. :)
