Sonic Generations Becomes The Most Pre-Ordered Sonic Game Ever

Sega Announces That Sonic Generations Pre-Orders Exceed Pre-Orders For All Previous Sonic Games

In just a few days, Sonic Generations will be the hands of many gamers anxious to see if Sega has pulled The Blue Blur out of his years-long rut. Apparently, there’s a lot of gamers out there ready to welcome the return of classic Sonic, because Sega has announced that Sonic Generations is the most pre-ordered Sonic game in history.

It may seem like pre-orders are a relatively new thing, but I remember pre-ordering Sonic the Hedgehog 2 way back in the early 90s, so that means that Sonic Generations has been pre-ordered more than any Sonic Genesis title, no small feat considering that may Sonic fans feel that the Genesis era was when Sonic was at the pinnacle of greatness.

It isn’t much of a surprise to hear that Sonic Generations is breaking pre-order records for Sega – all of the trailers we’ve seen so far have been great, and I know that there are many out there who have been pleased with the demo that has appeared numerous times on Xbox Live and PSN.

I don’t know about you, but Sonic Generations is a definite buy for me. I haven’t pre-ordered it yet (and I’m not sure that I will), but regardless of reviews, I think Sonic Generations will be worth checking out. The PC version – the one I’m planning on going with – is only priced at $29.99, so even if it turns out to be absolutely terrible (which is doesn’t seem like it will), I won’t be out too much money because of my curiosity.

What about you? Have you already pre-ordered Sonic Generations? Are you excited for its release in a few days, or do you think Sega will drop the ball once more? Do you think we’ll see classic Sonic in more games if Sonic Generations is a hit? Head down to the comments section and tell us what you think!

Not very surprising. I wouldn’t be surprised if it has 10 million preorders or something. :)

    2. Justin Thurmond says:

Classic Sonic is one of two reasons why this game is going to be the greatest. The second is Modern Sonic is in there so the young people of today will see how far Sonic the Hedgehog has come in the past 20 years since his appearance.
