Nook Color 2 From Barnes & Noble Set To Land November 7th
We’ve been pretty focused on the Kindle Fire these last few weeks, and with good reason: this new tablet is offering up some pretty impressive specs and functions alike, making it a great deal that could even be picked up alongside the iPad as opposed to in competition with it. But the folks out at Barnes & Noble aren’t taking the Kindle Fire lying down, and reports suggest Barnes & Noble could be wheeling out the previously rumored Nook Color 2 as early as this November.

The launch date, at last report, is set for November 7th. But while we have a launch date from multiple sources, what we don’t have is, well, anything else. No one’s talking specs, or pricing, or anything like that. However, further word has emerged that says Barnes & Noble stores are set to get a major overhaul in a bid to support the Nook, which makes some sense given how ebook sales in general are doing when stacked against their regular counterparts as well as the recent fate of the Borders chain of bookstores.
A November 7th launch date would put this in clear contention with the Kindle Fire, which has taken at last report a quarter million preorders and many, many more looking to get into production. Since no one has much word as yet on just what kind of spec loadout this has, it’s going to be tough to compare it against the Kindle Fire, but the comparison should be interesting.
I’m definitely looking forward to November 7th, if for no other reason than to hear about what the Nook Color 2 is set to bring out, and see how it stacks up against its competitor at Amazon, who brings not only ebooks, but also music and video to the party.
So what do you guys think here? Figure the Nook Color 2 can be a match for the Kindle Fire? Or will Amazon’s media presence overwhelm Barnes & Noble’s offerings? No matter what you think about the two, we’re waiting for you down in the comments section, so head on down and tell us what you think here!
