DC Universe Online Switching To Free-To-Play Next Week [DC Universe Online Making The Transition To Free-To-Play At The Beginning Of November]
With so many MMOs either launching as free-to-play games or making the transition to free-to-play shortly after launch, we can’t say it was much of a surprise to hear that Sony Online Entertainment was planning to make DC Universe Online free-to-play.

The announcement has, however, apparently renewed interest in the game, which seemed to lose momentum after launch. Now there’s a ton of people out there waiting for DC Universe Online to make the shift so the can check it out for themselves, but the only issue was that Sony didn’t announce a date when it announced the planned transition.
Well, those anxious to get in and check out DC Universe Online better get ready, because Sony Online Entertainment has finally given us a date. DC Universe Online will make the transition to free-to-play next week on November 1st. That date is for both the PC version and the PS3 version, so in just a few days, you’ll be able to play DC Universe Online without the commitment to subscription fees.
I was interested in DC Universe Online before it launched, but unfortunately the subscription fee scared me off. Now that it’s making the switch to free-to-play though, I think I’m going to have to check it out, even though I try to make a point of staying away from MMOs these days. What have I got to lose, right? Plus, being a superhero and getting quests from Superman, Batman, or Lex Luthor sounds too awesome to pass up.
What about you? Are you planning on downloading DC Universe Online once it goes free-to-play next week, or will you be sticking with the other free-to-play MMOs out there? Are you even into MMOs to begin with?
