Jolicloud Announces The Latest Version Of JoliOS, Dubs It "Your Cloud, Beautifully Organized"

Jolicloud Announces Latest Beta Version Of JoliOS, Will Allow For Access From Your iPhone, Android & Other Devices

Jolicloud has been around for some time now, though they have undergone some changes over the past year or so. Mainly shifting their focus from being a netbook only operating system to one that will run on just about anything. Nicely done in that respect, mainly because it will allow the operating system to run on older hardware that would otherwise be ditched.

But perhaps a bit more important today — the folks at Jolicloud have announced that they are going to begin rolling out invitations for their latest beta offering. One that seems even more focused on the cloud. And in addition, they have shared some numbers in terms of users. Of course, we had seen some of that in the past, back in July when they shared that they topped the 500,000 user milestone.

Anyway, coming back to the present day and we learn that they had 35,000 people sign up for the beta when it was announced over the summer. And that was 35,000 people registering for something they had little (if any) knowledge about. And making sure that fact did not go unnoticed, the folks at Jolicloud stated that they have “been amazed and humbled by such a response.” Otherwise, that half-a-million user mark has since grown to 600,000 and the focus of JoliOS is now being referred to as the personal cloud.

With Jolicloud, you will be able to access your personal cloud from your iPhone, your Android phone, your tablet, your computer and pretty much any connected device with our API. Joli OS, our own operating system used in many schools and public service as a free way to recycle old computers to connect them to the cloud, has been open sourced and is now available to the community. All our existing OS users will benefit from our new platform.

That being said, those interested in Jolicloud can hit the source link at the bottom of this post to learn a bit more, or even sign up for the beta. And as for this guy, I still have my now aged Eee PC 1000H netbook running JoliOS, its been sitting for a few months, but now may be a good time to dive back in.
