Nokia World 2011: Nokia Lumia 800 Specs, Features, Release Dates & Pricing Official
The Nokia Lumia 800 is the “first real Windows Phone.” We’re not making such claims, as these are the words Stephen Elop, Nokia’s CEO, used to describe the company’s first WP handset.

The device will have a design similar with the Nokia N9 with Elop telling the crowd gathered in London that it’s going to be one of the best Windows Phone handsets designed to date.
The Lumia 800 is going to be the kind of smartphone Nokia fans tired of the Symbian platform will want to buy later this year. Before we talk pricing and availability though, let’s take a look at the official specs and features:
- “outstanding antenna performance”
- 8-megapixiel camera with Carl Zeiss Tessar F2.2 aperture lens and dual LED Flash
- 3.7-inch Curved Clear Black display
- 1.4GHz processor with hardware acceleration and a graphics processor
- Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
- Office Hub support
- SharePoint integration
- 25GB of free online storage with SkyDrive
- mobile Internet Explorer similar to IE9
- Xbox Live integration
- Hardware-accelerated graphics
- HTML5 support
- no physical buttons
- Exclusive free Nokia Drive turn-by-turn navigation support
- Exclusive Nokia Music / Mix Radio support – no log-in and no subscription
- Exclusive ESPN Sports Hub
Nokia has spent too much time trying to show us why its Windows Phone solution is different than everyone else’s, but, at the end of the day, we were pretty much looking at the same features we’ve seen in other Mango presentations customized to fit Nokia’s needs. On the other hand they did claim the Nokia WP handsets are better than what the competition has to offer so they really wanted to show the world what they are capable of in terms of software features.

Unlike other companies that really try to make the most of a presentation by also unveiling actual hardware characteristics, Nokia demoed its customization of Microsoft’s mobile OS without putting that much emphasis on the specs of the device. Those of you familiar with the Nokia N9, a very good-looking phone with a promising-but-never-really-explored mobile OS, will see the obvious similarities between the N9 and the Lumia 800.
As for pricing details and availability dates, they were not immediately mentioned by Stephen Elop and friends, so stay tuned for more details but it looks like they are available already. The phone will cost €420, which equals to about $585, and it is already available for pre-order. The Lumia 800 will be launched at some point in November in various European markets: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and UK. U.S. release dates have not been mentioned at this time, and those reports suggesting Nokia Mango handsets will only be launched in 2012 in America appear to have been true after all. Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan will get the phone by the end of the year.
