Canon LV-8235 Lets You Put Big Images Inside Spaces Smaller Than Closets [Canon's Newest Projector, The LV-8235, Is An Ultra Short Throw Projector That Puts Up Big Bright Images From At Very Short Distances From The Screen]
It’s strange that we haven’t heard much out of Canon lately, being as Canon is one of the biggest names in cameras out there. But they’ve just brought out a whole new reason to pay attention, especially for you home theater buffs out there: the Canon LV-8235 ultra short throw projector.

Despite the fact that the Canon LV-8235 has a name that sounds like it was pulled whole and breathing out of a Sigourney Weaver movie, it’s what this thing does that’s so impressive. See, the Canon LV-8235 is, as I mentioned, an ultra short throw projector, meaning that it doesn’t need a whole lot of room to put up surprisingly big and bright images. The current word says that it can actually put up an eighty inch image from just over a foot away from the screen or surface you’re planning to project upon.
But that’s not all! It will handle stereoscopic 3D, if you’re so inclined, and will offer up 2500 lumens of brightness, a 2000 : 1 contrast ratio, and offer up a primary resolution of 1280 x 800, which may not be 1080p, but still allows for HD video or graphics on widescreen-capable laptops.Just to round out the features set, it also offers up direct power-on systems (great if you’ve got it on a ceiling mount), HDMI input, RJ-45 input, RS-232C input, a ten watt speaker included, and a surprisingly quiet operating noise level of just 28 decibels.
And if you want one of these yourself, well, it’s going to be a bit pricey. You’ll have to shell out fully $1799 for one of these, though you do get a three year warranty and a service program that gives you a loaner of equal or greater value while your projector is being repaired.
I don’t know about you guys, but that sounds pretty good to me. Granted, there’s cheaper, and better resolution projectors, but if you’ve got a small space and you want big images (think entire blank bedroom wall) then this might be just what you need. But what do you think about the Canon LV-8235? Think you can get some great home theater going around this one? Or is there better to be had? Either way, the comments section is waiting for you below, so head on down and tell us what you think!
