Nintendo Announces Two New DSi XL Bundles [Nintendo Introducing Two New DSi XL Bundles For The Holiday Shopping Season, No Love For The 3DS?]
You know, I really don’t understand Nintendo sometimes. Here we are, quickly approaching the holiday season, the PlayStation Vita is releasing in just a few short months, and the success or failure of the 3DS hangs in the balance. You’d think that, with the recent 3DS price cut, Nintendo would be doing everything it can to push the 3DS this holiday season in order to get as big of a jump as it can on Sony and the PS Vita.

What do the executives at Nintendo do instead? They go and announce two new DSi XL bundles for the holidays. Yeah, you heard me, DSi XL. That’s not to say that they aren’t going to come up with some great 3DS deals for the holiday season, but why they would offer DSi XL bundles when they should be pimping the 3DS (and only the 3DS) is completely beyond me.
In any case, if you’re in the market for a new DSi XL, then pay attention because these bundles actually make for a really great deal. Both bundles will include a DSi XL, a copy of Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem (a great game for gamers of any age), and the DSi XL featured in the bundle will come pre-loaded with two Brain Age Express titles and the DSi’s Photo Clock app.

Really, the only difference between the two bundles is the color of the DSi XL that comes packed with it – consumers will get to choose between Midnight Blue and Metallic Rose. All of this for only $169.99, the same price as standalone DSi XLs, and also the same price as the 3DS.
I’m seriously left scratching my head at this announcement, and find myself wondering why Nintendo is shooting itself in the foot like this. I guess money is money, and at least if the 3DS has failed to find a substantial audience in a year from now, Nintendo won’t have anyone to blame but itself.
