4G LTE iPhone Expected For 2012, Say Reports [An iPhone Running On 4G LTE Networks Is Expected To Hit Next Year Due To Improvements In Chips And Supporting Networks]
A new report emerges that adds a note of credence to earlier reports that said the iPhone 5–assuming it keeps that name, of course–will be hitting shelves next year, and will be running on 4G LTE networks. From the look of the report, things are finally lining up nicely to bring the device out.

The issues, according to the reports, that kept Apple from launching a 4G LTE phone will be largely solved by the end of 2012, and thus, Apple has at least some plan to bring out a 4G LTE iPhone in that same time span. Many were disappointed by the lack of a 4G LTE phone in Apple’s recent release launch event, and the word began circulating that there were two primary problems with the launch of a 4G LTE device: one, the chips involved were both too large and too much a strain on a battery to make them worth using, and two, the 4G LTE network was still something of a project in the making across most of the United States.
But with Verizon and Sprint alike making substantial progress toward hooking up the country with 4G LTE speeds, and the chipsets rapidly shrinking down, Apple seems reasonably convinced (though this could well change by the time we actually get to 2012) that next year is the year of the 4G LTE iPhone, and probably, the actual iPhone 5. And it’s a good thing, too; further word reports that Nokia, RIM and Sony Ericsson will each be bringing out 4G LTE phones by this time next year, joining a wide swath of companies who already have the devices out there. And for Apple to be too far behind the curve would likely do serious damage to its image as an innovator. And of course, it will likely prove a boost to Sprint and Verizon too, who will not only have a shiny new 4G LTE network, but also a terrific device (which will join a substantial lineup of same) on which to run and fully appreciate it.
So what do you guys think here? Figure that next year will prove to be the year of the 4G LTE iPhone after all? Or is this one more report that won’t pan out after all?
