ViewSonic ViewPad 7e Gets Pricing & Release Date For US Markets
Surprise bit of news slips out today about the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e, as this entry-level (that’s why it’s got that “e” in the name) tablet gets both pricing and a release date. And if you’re in the market for a cheap tablet, well, you might just have exactly what you were after right here.

You first heard about the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e by way of our own Robert Nelson way back in August, where it was expected to land during the fourth quarter of this year for a price around 169 euros, but now, we’ve got the full word on pricing and release dates for the United States and the rest of North America. You’ll be able to pick this one up for $199–this is a substantial drop from the originally expected price, at least in today’s conversion–and you’ll be able to pick it up starting in a matter of days, at the end of October.
By way of recap, the ViewSonic ViewPad 7e is set to offer up is a seven inch tablet running Android 2.3 (or Gingerbread, if you prefer the sweet name) running on a 1 GHz processor and showing at an 800 x 600 resolution. And with that, you’ll get a .3 megapixel front-facing camera for your video chatting needs, a three megapixel camera facing rearward for photos and video, four gigs of onboard storage with support for 32 gig microSD cards, wi-fi connectivity, ViewSonic AirSync for upgrades, and a variety of pre-installed apps including Amazon Kindle, TuneIn Radio and WildTangent games.
Sounds pretty impressive to me, especially for $199. Sure, it’s not exactly the most powerful tablet on the market, but it looks like it will handle most of the basic tablet functions like casual gaming, video and ebook reading without incident, and if you need something more powerful than that, well, that’s why they made laptops, isn’t it?
So what do you guys think? Anyone going to be looking to get hands on a ViewSonic ViewPad 7e? Or do you have a better idea in mind for your tablet purchase? Either way, we want to hear what you think about this new tablet, so head on down to the comments section below and tell us what’s on your mind!
