Sprint Making Android Smartphones More Accessible For The Hard Of Hearing
Sprint has announced their latest app offering, which should come as good news for those who are either deaf or hard of hearing. The app is for called Wireless CapTel and is available for Android smartphones.

More specifically, the Wireless CapTel app will be available for those running Android 2.2 or later. Those interested will be able to find the app in the Android Market and it comes as a free download. The Wireless CapTel app is available for those in the US (and US territories), is currently at version 1.0 and measures in as a 978k download. With the basic app details out of the way, lets get into exactly what it will offer.
Wireless CapTel by Sprint allows users to read conversations with real-time word-for-word captions on their wireless phones. Wireless CapTel by Sprint users place a call in the same way they would when using a traditional phone – by dialing the number directly on the device. The revolutionary application then connects callers directly to the CapTel service when the phone is dialed. When the receiving party answers, callers can listen to what the other person is saying and also read captions on the phone’s display screen.
And in terms of receiving a call, that will also be automatically routed. Simply put, the person making the call will need to have the personal Wireless CapTel number of the person they want to call. Basically, just like calling any number, it is just that this one will be routed a bit different.
Additionally, some of the other features of the app include an integrated contact list, call history, built-in voicemail and the ability to customize the font and colors of the app. And with that, you can check out a short demo video along with some of the app screenshots below.
