Pocket Informant 2.0 For iOS Preview/Teaser Video Released

WebIS Releases Pocket Informant 2.0 Teaser Video, Will Bring Contact Integration & Continue With Calendar & Tasks

Once upon a time I was a Windows Mobile user, and while I am not always willing to admit that, it did come with one positive in that it exposed me to an app called Pocket Informant. And that being the case, despite a few years away, I have returned to the app with the iPhone and iPad.

I have written about the app several times here in the past and overall — I love it with one exception. While I have always been really happy with the features that it offers — mainly for the syncing with Google Calendar and Toodledo, I have always been slightly bummed that it did not include Contacts.

And well, it looks like I will soon have my wish — contact integration is coming with the release of Pocket Informant 2.0 for iOS. Anyway, we still do not have a date as to when version 2.0 will be available, however the folks at WebIS have released this short teaser style video.

The video comes in a just about a minute and a half and gives a walk-through of the app. Overall, the app still looks rather similar, however those who use it regularly will likely notice some changes. The app appears to have been redesigned, though there are still the same features and ways to display your calendar and tasks.

Getting back to the one big addition, the contact integration. We still need to learn a bit more before we get super excited, however we suspect that given the Calendar can be sync’d with Google Calendar — that the contacts will sync with Google Contacts.

Otherwise, Pocket Informant 2.0 for iOS will take advantage of “several iOS 5 specific features in Event Kit and alerts and more” however it will not yet be syncing with iCloud. According to the folks at WebIS;

Pocket Informant 2.0 is built using Core Data which brings with it many advantages including “built-in” iCloud support. Technically we can support Core Data with just a few extra lines of code and bam! But we won’t. Not in 2.0.

With that, check out the video below and lets hope that this 2.0 release comes for both the iPhone and iPad. The video offers a look at the iPhone version. Otherwise, Pocket Informant is available for Android and BlackBerry.
