SSX Release Date Announced
Ever since it was announced at last year’s Video Game Awards, I’ve been looking forward to Electronic Arts’ reboot of the SSX series. Sure, the whole “SSX Deadly Descents,” title and the shift to a more realistic snowboarding experience turned me off at first, but luckily Electronic Arts dropped that angle and made survival only one aspect of the game.

Well, my years-long wait for another SSX game is about to come to an end, because Electronic Arts has announced the release date for their reboot. SSX will be out in North America on Febraury 14th, meaning that you’ll have to decide between spending Valentine’s Day with your significant other or spending it on the virtual slopes.
This actually works out well for me, because my girlfriend loves the SSX series just as much as I do, perhaps even more. Maybe I can actually get away with buying her a video game for Valentine’s Day? That would be something awesome, but I’m not sure it would be a good idea to risk going in with only SSX and no backup.
Regardless of whether my girlfriend wants to spend Valentine’s Day playing SSX, this is a day one purchase for me. I played both SSX Tricky and SSX 3 until my thumbs hurt (it was damn Gamecube d-pad, if you must know), so I’m more than ready to return to the world of extreme and rather unrealistic snowboarding.
Who else is excited? The media we’ve seen of this SSX reboot looks great so far, and Electronic Arts saved their butts when they decided to return to the high-flying gameplay of SSX titles past after the outcry over Deadly Descents from fans of the series. Is anyone else picking this up on Valentine’s Day, or will you wait until the reviews come in? Take to the comments section below to share your thoughts!
