Pre-Purchase Sonic Generations PC, Get Sonic 3 & Sonic 3D Blast Free

Steam Pre-Purchase Offers For Sonic Generations Announced, Two Great Genesis Games Up For Grabs

Despite Sega’s hesitancy to embrace the PC when it comes to the Sonic games of years past, the PC version of Sonic Generations is officially a thing. Better yet, it’s releasing on PC just a few days after it releases on Xbox 360 and PS3, so it’s nice to see that Sega won’t be making PC gamers wait a month, unlike some other publishers out there.

As if that wasn’t enough, Steam and Sega have announced some attractive pre-purchase bonuses for the already budget-priced game. Pre-purchase Sonic Generations through Steam and you’ll be given a copy of Sonic 3 & Knuckles and a copy of Sonic 3D Blast for free. Not a bad offer considering Sonic Generations is only going to set you back $29.99.

The question, however, is whether or not these freebies make a pre-purchase worth it. Sure, Sonic Generations looks great, but Sonic fans have been burned too many times in the past to make me feel like a pre-purchase is worth the risk. Couple that with the fact that there hasn’t been a PC demo, and you’ve got a pretty good reason to wait and see what reviews say.

Not to mention the fact that PC versions of a mutliplatform game are sometimes just bad ports of its console brethren. It’s a big gamble, but if you already know you’re going to buy Sonic Generations on PC regardless of the reviews, this is a pretty great deal. Not only do you get Sonic 3D Blast, a good game in its own right, but you also get Sonic 3 & Knuckles, one of the best games ever to grace to cartridge slot of the Genesis.

Already have one or both of those games? No problem! Just give your extra copies to a friend. What do you think? Will you be pre-purchasing a copy of Sonic Generations and nabbing yourself free copies of Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic 3D Blast, or are you going to wait it out and see how it does with reviewers? Do you think the PC version will be able to stand on its own, or will it be a crappy port of the console version? Head down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
