AT&T Has Activated One Million iPhone 4S'

AT&T Offers Up iPhone 4S Activation Numbers, Now Totaling More Than 1 Million Activations Since The Official Launch

Earlier this week we saw Apple offer up some numbers in terms of iPhone 4S sales. And for those who may have missed that little bit, Apple was touting how they sold more than 4 million during the first weekend of availability. Anyway, as of today we have some activation related numbers coming from AT&T.

According to the details that we have seen, AT&T has now activated more than 1 million iPhone 4S’. Though technically speaking, they have probably increased that number since. The details state that they activated the “more than 1 million” as of this past Tuesday.

While we have yet to see anything in terms of how many iPhone 4S’ that any of the other carriers have activated — considering Apple has sold 4 million and AT&T has activated 1 million, things are looking good for AT&T. And as one would expect in such as situation, AT&T has taken the time to brag about how that is likely due to them having the iPhone 4S running on their HSPA+ network.

“It’s no surprise that customers are clamoring for iPhone 4S and they want it to run on a network that lets them download twice as fast as competitors’,” said Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets.

AT&T is also bragging about how they were the first to launch the iPhone in the US market back in 2007 and how they were the first to have the iPhone available “with 4G speeds.” Bottom line, Apple (and in turn the carriers) have sold and since activated quite a bit of iPhone 4S’ in the short time they have been available. And while lots of people seemed a bit skeptical going in, it appears that plenty of people still wanted the iPhone 4S despite the fact that it was not the iPhone 5. Of course, following previous patterns, and in hind-sight — the iPhone 4S makes perfect sense.
