Galaxy Nexus S Definitely Getting Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrade

Google Confirms Android 4.0 Update for Nexus S & Probably Most Gingerbread Devices

Samsung and Google outed the new Galaxy Nexus at today’s event in Hong Kong, and by now, everyone and their mother has already seen it rocking the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But, you ask, what about our old Android devices? What about our previous iterations of the Nexus handset?

Gabe Cohen of Google talked to Engadget, and confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich is going to roll out to the Nexus S, specifically. If you don’t have a Nexus S, though, don’t worry, Cohen says ICS should “theoretically work for any 2.3 (Gingerbread) device.” Of course, we all have to wait till November to know for sure, and your carrier and manufacturer affect when you get the upgrade to 4.0, but hang tight, and don’t lose hope!

Besides Gingerbread devices, Honeycomb tablets are also expected to get the Ice Cream Sandwich flavor, butdetails for now are quite sparse. So stay tuned for more Ice Cream Sandwich news!
