Galaxy Nexus Heading To Verizon 4G LTE First?

Pics Taken In The Wild Show The Galaxy Nexus Complete With Familiar Branding Stamp On The Device's Back

One of the big unknowns about last night’s launch of the Galaxy Nexus had to be just what carriers were going to lay hands on the device first, and just how much cash we’d have to fill their hands with in order to pry it out of there. And now, thanks to a couple of photos taken by a Google employee that slipped out into the wild, we’ve got an idea of just who might be landing it first: Verizon.

The photos, taken by a Google employee (one of which can be found above supplying the proof on this one), show the Google Nexus out in what appears to be a beach at sunset. Very nice shots, of course, and designed to show off the gear that took the great video for demos. But what probably wasn’t intended to be shown is up near the camera lens, that little thing that looks like a boxy 4G. I’ve got a better shot of the logo directly below, so you can take a look and compare the two. If you think they look a whole lot alike, well, you’re not alone.

There were earlier reports that suggested Verizon was going to pass up the Galaxy S II in order to get its hands on the Galaxy Nexus when it made its appearance, and the pictures of this phone suggest that such was indeed the case. It’s not the same as an official announcement, of course, but connecting the dots on this one does provide a very interesting picture that at least looks like Verizon’s going to be landing some Galaxy Nexus soon. And this does line up with some earlier reports, via our own Robert Nelson, that said they’d be getting this one in.

It looks like Verizon’s going to be first out of the gate with the Galaxy Nexus when they finally emerge, but what do you guys think of this? Do you figure you’ll be at Verizon stores ready to get your hands on one of these? Or do you think the Galaxy Nexus will start its landing somewhere else? Either way, we want to hear what you think about this release schedule, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
