Samsung Galaxy Nexus Details Leak Ahead Of Tonights Announcement

While we are waiting for the Samsung / Google press event that is going to take place later today, it looks like some early bits of information have begun leaking out. The details that we have seen up until this point include word from Samsung Canada about a Canadian release of Ice Cream Sandwich as well as a look at the Galaxy Nexus that comes with further confirmation in terms of specs.

With that being said, lets first dive into the Canadian release information. But first, the obvious, given we have already seen other Nexus branded devices come available in Canada, this is not so much a surprise as just nice to see. Anyway, the word here is coming direct from Samsung Canada who dropped the following little tidbit in a press email.

The coolest Samsung smartphone will be coming to Canada soon. Stay tuned for additional information regarding launch date and availability in the coming weeks.

Of course, that little bit followed some chatter about how Samsung and Google were holding an event in Hong Kong later this evening (at 10PM EST). And for those looking to watch live, Google will have a stream for the event which will be found at http://www.youtube.com/android. Still, while it is nice to see that more information will be coming in a few weeks, we still need the details from the respective carriers.

Otherwise, we also have the image (seen below) which offers a decent look at the handset itself. Or maybe more important, the image is showing a handset that appears to have a rather flat front display with a rather curved backside. In addition, that image offers further confirmation on some of the specs. The details for those include the dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP4460 processor and the HD Super AMOLED display.

And lastly, also worth noting — this image is listing Ice Cream Sandwich as Android 4.0.
