Microsoft Reveals Two Xbox 360 Holiday Bundles
As if the weather becoming colder wasn’t evidence enough, the influx of new releases lately leads me believe that we might just be heading for the holiday season. Sure enough, my suspicions that winter is approaching were confirmed today when Microsoft announced two new Xbox 360 holiday bundles.

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let me just say that if you haven’t bit the bullet and bought an Xbox 360 yet, the upcoming winter season is the time to do so. The two bundles that Microsoft announced today will appeal to two very different demographics within the realm of gaming: the family-friendly gamers, and the gamers who like a little more blood then your average soccer mom.
The first bundle Microsoft revealed comes with a black 250GB Xbox 360 (without the gloss, as previously promised), a black Kinect, a copy of Kinect Adventures, a copy of Carnival Games: Monkey See Monkey Do, and three free months of Xbox Live Gold. Now, there’s no way to be entirely sure, but I think this one is the bundle aimed at families. This bundle is the more expensive of the two, with Major Nelson saying that the suggested retail price of this bundle is $399.99.
A steep price, to be sure, so those who don’t want to shell out a bunch of money for a Kinect bundle are urged to go with the second bundle, which lacks a Kinect, keeps the 250GB console and the three free months of Xbox Live Gold, and swaps out Kinect Adventures and Carnival Games for Halo: Reach and Fable 3. Since you’re not getting Kinect in this package, you’ll pay $100 less, with the suggested retail price of this bundle coming in at $299.99.
Both are attractive offers, and as luck has it, I’m in the market for a new console this holiday season. While the Halo: Reach bundle is really tempting, I think I might hold out for the Star Wars Kinect bundle that was pushed back to early 2012. I have no interest whatsoever in playing Star Wars Kinect, but I just can’t deny the lure of an R2D2-themed console.
What do you think of these bundles? Will you be picking one of them up for Christmas, or are your Xbox 360 needs already fulfilled? Head down to the comments section to sound off!
