Siri Still Not Working Fine As Problems Continue

iPhone 4S Exclusive Voice Assistant Feature Has Exclusive Issues, Apple Still Not Providing Guidance or Fix for Sirigate

Apple sold over four million iPhone 4S units to date, which means over four million Siri owners have been testing the exclusive voice-controlled virtual assistant. But some of them continue to have Siri problems three days after the phone started selling.

Apple is not acknowledging such issues at this time and users are relying on improvised fixes, basically resetting Siri or the network connection whenever the service fails to respond appropriately. During the weekend we reported that Siri is unable to connect to the network in some instances and showed you an unofficial fix for the issue as posted by an affected user on Apple’s Support Communities.

Feedback from several readers showed that the fix is not permanent, and the “Sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network” screen of death still appears. Yesterday we wondered what the problems could be, suggesting that we’re either looking at issues with carrier networks and/or ISPs networks or that Apple’s servers are failing to provide the appropriate support for the service.

Siri relies on a permanent Internet connection with Apple’s servers in order to be able to respond to queries generated by the user. But if the app can’t connect with Apple’s servers even when a Wi-Fi or 3G connection is available, which is how affected users describe the problem, then it seems that Apple must definitely intervene and fix this issue.

Are Apple servers unable to deal with traffic generated from four million iPhone 4S owners? What will happen when Apple starts selling the handset in even more countries later this year? We have no way of answering such questions without proper support from Apple. And the company is not talking.

On the other hand Siri is still described as a beta application, therefore some issues come with the territory. Although it’s certainly annoying to see the service go down when you least expect it to. And even more annoying to have to reset Siri each time in order to connect to a network.

Hopefully Siri, which is one of the most appreciated features of the iPhone 4S, will not turn into a Sirigate issue this year, which would be an equivalent of last year’s Antennagate for Apple, a PR disaster related to a specific new iPhone feature. And hopefully Apple will address this matter soon. In the mean time let’s hear it from you, iPhone 4S users, have you been let down by Siri in any way so far?

She is offline more than anything else. She works great the few times Ive been able to use her but its more annoying since she is the reason why I upgraded and up til now I’m not able to use her… very disappointing!!

It works great when it’s working but It hardly works, I’m gonna have to return the phone if it’s not fixed soon. It’s the main reason I ugraded! So annoying!!

Mine did not work. As one might expect went to Verizon store to return it and they were sold out. Sent me to the apple store and it worked there. Still not working as expected. Called apple. No phone support on weekend. Finally got them and they advised rebooting. Did so.. Then could not access anything as needed a puk code.. Three hours later finally found someone who could find my puk code. Entered it and still no Siri, eg. “can’t access network.” GOING FORTY MILES TO BRING THE PHONE BACK TODAY. TOO MUCH SUGAR FOR A DIME!

Mostly not working here in California on Sprint. The fix (Siri off – Network Reset – Siri on) worked only sometimes. Since last night (Monday) no Siri at all. As far as I am concerned, having a 4 as well, this is one of the highlights that made me buy the 4S. Sri is impressive when it works, and the way of the future. I could understand that with 4 Mio 4S out there and everyone going on Siri at once, the servers could have a problem similar to a DOS attack. Apple needs to at least acknowledge the problem. That would put me at ease.
