RIM Gives Brief Glimpses Of Two New Blackberry Handsets
A strange new development emerges as, apparently, Research In Motion isn’t taking this network outage–and its relatively low rankings in terms of smartphone sales–lightly, as they’re looking to bring out a pair of new models in the coming weeks, the Blackberry Curve Touch 9380 and the Blackberry 9970 Bellagio.

While there aren’t any pictures available for either–this whole affair got announced on a Blackberry developer’s blog (and they may well end up looking like earlier versions)–we do actually have some idea of the specs, likely so the developers would have some idea of what they were working with.
The Blackberry Curve Touch 9380 is set to be a relatively simple model of Blackberry, offering a 3.2 inch display showing at 480 x 360 resolution. In a departure from the normal Blackberry, however, the Curve Touch 9380 will not include a keyboard, but rather be strictly a touch interface device.
Meanwhile, its counterpart, the Blackberry 9970 Bellagio, is set to be a smaller device with a 2.44 inch display, but will show at the same 480 x 360 resolution as the Curve Touch 9380. And the Bellagio will not only have the touch screen display that the Curve Touch is set to offer, but will also include the keyboard, which is a bit odd considering how much smaller this device is set to be.
Here’s where things get a little interesting: if Blackberry is putting out the word on developer blogs, they’re looking for apps. If they want apps, it stands to reason that the phones themselves must be at least approaching launch stages. Considering we’ve got a big shopping season staring us in the face, it makes sense for Blackberry to want new devices on shelves to accommodate the shoppers. But if this is the case, I can’t help but wonder why we don’t know more of the basics, like the processor speed and storage size and the like. Still though, a new phone coming, especially from Blackberry, is worth taking note of.
But what do you guys think? Do you figure Blackberry’s new phones may stand a chance in the upcoming shopping rush? Or do you think that the network outage has all but finished them as a company? Either way, the comments section is waiting below, so head on down and tell us what you think!
