Google Wallet Gets New Merchants
Google has just announced that more establishments are now accepting payments via Google Wallet. Stores are also offering discounts and coupons for customers paying through this system.

Mobile payment just got easier, with the availability of Google Wallet for a few select Android devices (particularly the Nexus S running Gingerbread). While the device support is limited for now, Google is growing its merchant base, and has announced that Wallet payments are now accepted in more stores and dining establishments.
Google announced that users can now tap-to-pay at these establishments:
- American Eagle Outfitters;
- The Container Store;
- Foot Locker;
- Guess;
- Jamba Juice;
- Macy’s;
- OfficeMax;
- Toys “R” Us.
Discounts and Promos
These establishments will also offer discounts and promos when you buy or pay for items through Google Wallet. Google says you won’t even need to save or print out coupons. The system will automatically implement the discount or promo when you pay.
The “Offers” tab in Google Wallet will include a new “Featured Offers” section, from which you can find the deals. These are said to be exclusive to Google Wallet, and current promos include:
- 15% discount at American Eagle Outfitters;
- 10% discount at The Container Store;
- 15% discount at Macy’s;
- All-fruit smoothie for $2 at Jamba Juice.
Several establishments are also partnering with Google for a loyalty program, which should automatically apply against Wallet. Purchases from Foot Locker, Guess, OfficeMax and American Eagle Outfitters will automatically get you rewards points.
Going Prepaid?
Google has also updated the interface for the Google Prepaid Card with improved transaction details, and real-time purchase information, which includes merchant, location, amount and value of transactions.
Finally, Google has announced that more business establishments will be joining the system soon, including Chevron, D’Agostino, Faber News Now, Gristedes Supermarket and Pinkberry.
