Free DLC For Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Spotted At NYCC

New Heroes Vs. Heralds DLC For Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Previewed At NYCC

Normally, we’re not big fans of DLC being announced before the game it’s made for is even released. When publishers do that, it reeks of greed, and leaves many people wondering why they didn’t just stick the content on the disc in the first place.

But how can we be angry at this announcement from Capcom when the DLC they’re talking about is both free and awesome? Someone managed to sneak a video camera into Capcom’s presentation at the New York Comic Con and record a new trailer showcasing their planned post-launch DLC for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Heroes vs. Heralds, and it looks simply wonderful.

That is, it looks wonderful if you don’t mind the shaky cam footage, but a little motion sickness is a small price to pay for getting an early peek at this impressive-looking DLC. Here’s the rundown of the story behind Heroes vs. Heralds: Galactus and his team of ne’er-do-wells are invading Earth, and it’s up to you to either stop him or help him. You’ll do this by unlocking cards that in turn unlock special bonuses for your team.

These aren’t paltry little bonuses that barely do anything, either, but rather bonuses like Invisibility and Projectile Invincibility that will do a lot to change the tide of battle. Did we mention that all of this will be free? No release date for this DLC has been announced yet, but considering that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is out next month, it’s probably safe to expect this DLC by the end of the year.

Go ahead and give the trailer below a watch, and then head down to the comments section to share your thoughts on this new DLC – does it make up for some of the wacky decisions Capcom has been making lately, or are you still pissed at them? Will you be buying Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 when it launches next month, or is this one enhanced edition that you can live without?
