Windows Phone Sells An All-Time Low Q2 2011
Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone Mango devices are garnering a lot of attention. But the Windows Phone devices that are already out are not faring as well. According to analyst asymco, Windows Phone saw its lowest-selling quarter this Q2 of 2011, selling only 1.4 million phones, which means Microsoft sold only 1.3% share of units.

As you can see on the graphs below, there’s a terrible decline with Windows Phone sales. Its US and EU5 shares in particular dropped from 2.8% to 2.2%. Asymco, however, believes that there’s something beyond just the numbers — it believes that Microsoft has a plan. The analysts might not have explicitly stated it, but it was implied that in the future, it might provide incentives (like paid commission) to vendors who’d be willing to prominently display and promote its devices.

After all, Microsoft originally had a $400 million budget specifically for the promotion of the Windows Phone devices. But it doesn’t seem to have been used thus far. It remains to be seen whether Nokia’s Windows Phone devices could salvage both Microsoft’s and Nokia’s ailing shares in the market.

I think it’s time to declare the Windows Phone platform dead. The fact it is going backwards is a disaster.
Why do we see conflicting data? What does IDC and Gartner know that asymco???? doesn’t? The sales figures still combine Winmo data so what does it all mean? Who cares, Window Phone is the best phone on the market and folks will eventually realize that because Windows Phone is going anywhere anytime soon.
Lol in your dreams Windows Phones havent even gotten started yet, the sales are due to lack in rpomotin and only 10 handsets before Mango update was released Android had over 100. Like the IDC says WP7 will be a major player in the very near future, look up the review of Windows Mango Online its extremely good. All thats missing now is the marketing? look at the reasons why.
