Steam Weekend Deal: Dawn Of War II Free-To-Play This Weekend

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and yes, we already did a post about Steam’s weekend deal yesterday. Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and Tomb Raider: Underworld are all still on sale this weekend – nothing about that has changed. But it’s also THQ week over at Steam, and as a result, we get a special THQ-themed weekend deal on top of the normal weekend deal.

Pretty awesome, right? You haven’t even heard the deal yet! For this weekend only, you can download and play Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II for free. That’s right, from now until 1 PM Pacific time on Sunday, October 16th, Dawn of War II is as good as yours.

If you take Steam and THQ up on their offer of free-to-play Dawn of War II and decide you like it, you’ll be able to pick up the entire Dawn of War library for 50% off. Dawn of War II currently sits at a cool $10, and it’s latest expansion pack, Dawn of War II: Retribution, comes in at a mere $15. If you decide that you want Dawn of War II and all of its DLC, you can pick up the Dawn of War II Complete Pack for only $30.00.

This Dawn of War weekend is sure to score THQ quite a few sales, seeing as how both Dawn of War and Dawn of War II were heralded as great RTS games. I know I’m in a very small minority when I say this, but the original Dawn of War failed to keep me interested. However, that shouldn’t dissuade you from picking up Dawn of War or Dawn of War II this weekend, because I think my dislike of the Dawn of War series has more to do with my preference for turn-based strategy games over RTS titles.
