Star Wars: The Old Republic European Release Date Bumped Up

Well everyone, we’ve nearly made it to the end of the journey. After months upon months of hearing about features, watching gameplay videos, and competing for a spot in the massively popular beta, Star Wars: The Old Republic is releasing in just over two months. Can you believe it?

Yeah, I know that The Old Republic has garnered it’s fair share of hate, but regardless of what you personally think of it, there are literally legions of people out there excited to go to war, Star Wars style. If you happen to be one of these people and you live in Europe, then we’ve got good news for you: BioWare and Electronic Arts have bumped up the release date of European version by a couple of days.

Before, those in PAL regions were going to have to wait while those in North America got first access to the game, but now everyone will get the game at the same time: December 20th. So there you go Europeans, you won’t have to suffer while you read American blogs that are talking about how great (or terrible) the game is.

Of course, if you didn’t pre-order the game, you might not get access at all on launch day. Electronic Arts previously said that they were going to stagger the amount of pre-orders they took for the game to ensure a launch day that’s as issue-free as possible. This means that those who pre-order early will have a better shot at a spot on EA and BioWare’s server while those who wait to pre-order (or don’t pre-order at all) aren’t guaranteed anything.

It kind of sucks for those who are excited for the game, but there’s a lot of interest in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The release of The Old Republic has garnered more attention than any MMO release in recent history, so there’s a good chance that Electronic Arts would face server problems on day one if they just let everyone who wanted in go crazy on launch day. It isn’t the most desirable of situations, but what can you do?
