Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime Listed by Verizon, Best Buy & Others Ahead of Launch
Yesterday we learned that Google and Samsung are getting ready for a special media event scheduled for October 19 to launch the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and the first phone to run it, the Samsung Nexus Prime (Galaxy Nexus).

Today we have a bunch of leaked screenshots for you that suggest that a bunch of retailers already have the device in their internal inventory system or are listing it on their website despite not being official yet.

A leak showing Verizon’s internal system suggests the handset will be called the “Galaxy Nexus,” a name we often heard recently. The image reveals the phone will have 4G LTE connectivity but that it won’t come with dual GSM/CDMA world mode capabilities. Of course, things may change as we’re still waiting for Samsung to make the handset official.

The handset has also been found in Best Buy’s Cellebrite system where it is listed as the SCH-i515 Nexus Prime, which seems to indicate the final retail name of the device isn’t yet really known. There’s also speculation that the Nexus Prime may be a Best Buy exclusive, just like its predecessor the Nexus S, although, and I say this again, nothing is yet official.

Despite that it looks like some third party retailers are getting ready to take pre-orders for the handset. Using an image taken from the recent videos showing or teasing the device, MobileCityOnline is listing the handset on its website under the name “Samsung Google Nexus Prime GT-i9250 Unlocked Import”. The device is apparently selling for $749.99 (their price) compared to $949.99 (retail price). Naturally, we’d advise you to stay away from pre-ordering the handset before the actual pricing are confirmed by Samsung and/or Google.
Actual release dates are not available from either Verizon, Best Buy or MobileCityOnline but they’ll probably be unveiled next week, so stay tuned for more related coverage!
