Assassin's Creed: Revelations Will Support 3D Across All Platforms
Given the success of both Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (and, to a lesser extent, the original Assassin’s Creed), I doubt there’s many of you out there that need another reason to get excited for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. If you’re one of the few who do, how about this: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will support 3D across all platforms.

It doesn’t matter what version you choose when the game releases later this year – the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions will come with support for 3D. On PC, Ubisoft is going with NIVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology, the same tech that graced Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. If you’re going for the console version, as I suspect many of you will, you actually have two options: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will come with support for all 3DTVs, but if you don’t have one of those, you’ll still be able to play in 3D thanks to TriOviz’s 3D technology for standard TVs.
So really, you don’t have an excuse not to play in 3D… unless you’d rather not get sick, of course. I haven’t played Assassin’s Creed in 3D yet, so I can’t speak with any certainty on the issue, but I’d imagine the high-flying acrobatics don’t translate well to 3D.
Call me crazy, but I still have yet to jump on the 3D bandwagon. I have absolutely no interest in watching TV or movies or playing video games in 3D. I feel like it’s just another fad created by manufacturers so they can charge even more for their movie tickets, TVs, and monitors, and I have yet to see a game or movie where the 3D effects actually any substantial entertainment value.
Maybe I’m wrong, though, and 3D is actually here to stay. What’s your take? Do you think that 3D is a fad that will die out before long, or do you think that 3D will be a mainstream feature for years to come? Do you think the 3D effect will add anything to the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations? Take to the comments section below and sound off!
