Samsung Stratosphere Now Available With Verizon Wireless

It was not all that long ago when Verizon announced the Samsung Stratosphere, however as we had expected to happen today — the handset has come available for sale. In other words, those who were holding out and waiting for the first 4G LTE smartphone with a hardware QWERTY keyboard can move forward and make their purchase.

The Samsung Stratosphere comes priced at $149.99 on a two-year agreement and nicely done, there is nothing to mail-in in order to get that price as the discount comes as instant. Furthermore, for those looking to avoid the two-year commitment, the Stratosphere is priced at $409.99 at full retail.

Moving on to the features, and speaking aside of the 4G LTE network support, the keyboard is a 5-row model, which you can get a good look at in the above image. Other features of the Stratosphere include a 4 inch (800 x 480) Super AMOLED touchscreen display, 1GHz processor, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and flash. The handset is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface on top.

In addition, the usual smartphone goodies such as GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot can all be found. And in terms of storage, the handset has 4GB of internal storage and is shipping with a 4GB microSD card in the box. Otherwise, the Stratosphere measures in at 4.96 x 2.54 x 0.55 inches, weighs in at 5.8 ounces and ships with access to the Android Market as well as some pre-installed apps to include Slacker Radio, Amazon Kindle and Blockbuster Mobile as well as a few others.

And lastly, as you would expect with a Verizon branded handset, the Stratosphere arrives with support for Mobile Hotspot as well as the usual array of Verizon services to include V CAST Videos, V CAST Music, V CAST Media Manager and VZ Navigator.
