Samsung (Galaxy) Nexus Prime Event Confirmed for October 19; Release Date Still Scheduled for Early November?
Earlier this week a rumor suggested that Samsung and Google will unveil the Nexus Prime and the new Android mobile operating system dubbed as Ice Cream Sandwich during a special event scheduled for October 19.

The press event should have taken place earlier this week but the two companies delayed it saying it wasn’t the right time to unveil a new product given the recent death of Apple’s iconic leader Steve Jobs. Successive rumors hinted that the event will take place on October 27 and that the phone will be launched on November 3.
At the same time a conspiracy theory suggested that the two companies may have lied to consumers and the media when delaying the announcement in order for Google to make certain changes in ICS in order to avoid any future patent-based lawsuits.

We have no idea whether such rumors will ever be confirmed but what is certain right now is that the Samsung and Google will indeed announce the new phone and OS on October 19 at 10:00 AM HKT. Invitations have been sent out and, as suggested earlier, the media event will take place in Hong Kong. The invitation clearly shows an Android Ice Cream Sandwich drawing which coupled with Google’s logo are clear indications that the search giant will unveil its new mobile OS next week. What’s also worth noting is that Google will provide a livestream of the event which will be available at youtube.com/android.
The Nexus Prime is not mentioned in the invitation but it’s pretty clear that the handset will be also announced on that occasion. The first ICS handset in the world is going to be the Google Nexus 3, and Samsung will make it, otherwise why host the event?
The phone, also known in some circles as the Galaxy Nexus, is expected to be a Verizon exclusive in the USA and we’ll certainly be interested to see whether the carrier will get it in early November as suggested or even sooner. Stay tuned as we’re going to bring you all the Samsung (Galaxy) Nexus Prime news next week!

@Chris Smith, I noticed Big Red has posted the Nexus as the Galaxy Nexus.
One thing that truly bothers me is that big red is stating that this is “not” a global phone!
There is also speculation that big red will “not” allow NFC!
This totally sucks!
Any thoughts on your end?
also do u believe this nexus will have a Micro SD slot?
Yeah, Verizon and others already listed the phone, a post on that is in the works.
Google pushed so hard for NFC, and it’s a major differentiating feature between Android and iOS right now. Why would Verizon have against it?
As for the missing world phone mode, that would be annoying if you’re traveling a lot. We’ll just have to wait though for Oct. 19 to get the officially official specs.
so will i be able to see this at 7pm on tuesday in ca?
That sounds about right.
