Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Arrives at Google Campus, Android Twitter Account Launched Too
Google is getting closer and closer to the Ice Scream Sandwich launch, its next major Android release. The company will join Samsung for a special event during which we expect to see ICS thoroughly demoed on top of the first handset that’s going to run it, the third Google Nexus handset currently knows as the Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus.

That’s happening less than a week from now, on October 19, but until then the company decided to bring Ice Cream Sandwich home, at Mountain View. An Android ice cream sandwich statue has been deployed on Google’s lawn so if your around Building 44 you’ll certainly spot it in some great company, as all the other sweets are there.
At the same time Google decided to launch a Twitter account for its Android OS. @android is the account in question which is currently followed by over 12K people and that number is expected to grow.
What will Ice Cream Sandwich have to offer though? That’s really a mystery so far. Google didn’t really preview ICS at its Google I/O event in May so we’re really waiting to be surprised. And we’re certainly expecting some great things considering the impressive iOS 5 roll out we’ve witnessed so far. Google simply has to try to respond with its own flagship mobile OS as soon as possible.
Users will get Ice Cream Sandwich initially only if they decide to purchase the Nexus Prime. Otherwise they may have to wait a longer period of time to get it. What’s clear is that the cooler ICS is, the more annoying the fragmentation issue of the Android universe will be since Android users won’t really be able to install ICS on their devices until later this year if not in 2012. In other words Google’s servers will not be hit by millions of requests on ICS launch day, will they?
