Roku Announces The $50 Roku LT & Upcoming Availability Of HBO GO
It was not all that long ago when we saw Roku unveil their latest generation of set top boxes and the availability of the Disney Channel content, however it looks like they have returned with word of an additional set-top box and an additional channel.

The new box is the Roku LT and the new channel will be HBO GO, both of which are said to be coming sometime in the next month or so. More specifically, the HBO GO channel will arrive at the end of October and the Roku LT will arrive in early-November. And nicely done, this latest set-top box comes with a low price point. In fact, Roku is already touting this as being “everyone’s favorite Holiday device.” That being said, the Roku LT is going to arrive priced at $49.99.
In terms of the features, there are some that the pickier users may miss. For example, the Roku LT will only have 720p streaming and it will also lack the SD card slot and Bluetooth support found on the other models. But those few details aside, the Roku LT will work with any of the available Roku channels (which is said to be more than 300) including Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video for video content as well as music from Pandora, MOG and more.
And moving from the Roku LT to the new channel — HBO GO. This channel will offer “more than 1,400 titles” which is said to include “every episode of every season of the best HBO shows” as well as movies. Some of the content will include Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and True Blood as well as classics like The Sopranos, Sex and the City and Deadwood. In addition, the HBO GO channel will also include original films, miniseries, sports, documentaries and specials. As far as HBO GO, this one will be free of charge, however similar to the HBO GO mobile apps — you will need to be an HBO cable subscriber in order to make use.
And lastly, the Roku LT joins the existing Roku 2 device lineup which consists of the Roku 2 HD for $59.99, the Roku 2 XD for $79.99 and the Roku 2 XS for $99.99.
