Qwikster Makes A Quick Exit, DVD's By Mail Will Remain Available As Netflix

Netflix Realizes Customers Want One Service, Not Two, Decides To Keep Netflix As The Streaming & DVD Service

Netflix may have only just recently announced that they were spinning off their DVD by mail service into a second website, dubbed Qwikster, however it looks like they have listened to the feedback and will not be moving forward.

Yup, the good news has come just a short while ago, and has arrived by way of a message that Netflix CEO Reed Hastings posted on the official Netflix blog. In other words, we can be happy that this bit comes as fact as opposed to rumor and/or speculation. The bottom line here, those who wish to have both instant streaming and DVD’s by mail will be able to continue to have both through the Netflix website.

According to the details posted by Reed Hastings;

“It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.”

Furthermore, Hastings also went on to note that while the price increase in July was “necessary” the good news is that they “are now done with price changes.” In other words, it looks like you can pick what you want and settle back in. Lets just hope that they are done with those price changes for a little while at least.

And lastly, in addition to passing on the good news about no longer needing a Qwikster account for DVD’s, Netflix also took the opportunity to remind everyone about the content they have been adding lately which includes “hundreds of movies” from studios including Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros, Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax as well as “over 3,500 TV episodes” from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History and PBS in the “last couple of weeks alone.”
