Dungeon Defenders Steam Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

Pre-Purchasing Dungeon Defenders Through Steam Nets You A Portal Gun & Team Fortress 2 Familiars To Use In-Game

The tower defense genre of games is one that’s great, but is in massive need of some innovation. We’ve seen great unique tower defense games and hybrids over the past couple of years, but Trendy Entertainment takes it another step further in Dungeon Defenders, a tower defense/action-RPG hybrid.

Dungeon Defenders First Strike, the mobile version of Dungeon Defenders, has been out on iOS and Android for quite a while now, and had the honor of being one of the first Unreal engine games to be released for mobile platforms. Now that the mobile version has made its waves, all eyes are on the PC and Xbox Live Arcade version, which release in just over a week.

Well, Trendy Interactive announced their pre-order bonuses for the Steam version of Dungeon Defenders over the weekend, and the bonuses you get for paying in advance make the game even more unique. Purchase the game prior to its October 19th release date, and you’ll get a Portal gun to use with the Huntress Class. This isn’t just a cosmetic addition for the game, either – as you’ll see from the trailer below, the Portal gun actually has some real uses in the game, and is sure to get you out of at least a handful of jams.

The bonuses don’t stop there though, as you’ll also be getting four Team Fortress 2 familiars to use in the game: the Heavy, the Engineer, the Medic, and the Pyro. The Heavy and the Pyro will follow you around and blast your enemies with their minigun and flamethrower, respectively, while the Engineer and the Medic serve more a supportive role, with the Engineer repairing damaged towers you stand near and the Medic healing groups of allies in battle.

If these pre-order bonuses sound like something you’d like to get in on, you have to act quick – Dungeon Defenders releases on October 19th, one week and three days from now. Better yet, pre-purchasing Dungeon Defenders through Steam will save you $1.50 off the $14.99 purchase price. It isn’t a huge discount, but considering that Dungeon Defenders is only $15 normally, I doubt many people will complain.

Anyone out there excited for Dungeon Defenders? It managed to sneak under my radar for quite a while, but now that I’ve checked out some screenshots and gameplay videos, I think it’s right up my alley.
